When is 60 days from today?

Counting forward 60 days from today gives the date below. Your own device does the arithmetic each time the page opens, so the answer is never stale.

Working it out from your device’s clock…

Today
Day of the week
Written as YYYY-MM-DD
Weekdays vs weekend days

The date above is calculated on your own device when the page opens, from your device’s clock and time zone. Nothing is uploaded and no date is stored on this page.

Two of the best-known 60-day clocks

If you take money out of an IRA or workplace retirement plan, US rules give you sixty days to put it into another eligible plan before it is treated as a taxable distribution — the 60-day rollover. Separately, someone who loses group health coverage has sixty days to elect COBRA continuation. Both are counted in calendar days from the triggering event, not from when the paperwork arrived, and both are famously unforgiving about the last day.

Sixty days as a notice and credit term

Sixty days is the longer of the two standard notice periods: senior roles, commercial leases and supplier contracts often ask for sixty rather than thirty. On the credit side, Net 60 is common where the buyer has leverage, and "60 days past due" is the second bucket on an ageing report — the point at which most collection processes escalate. Two consecutive calendar months run 59 to 62 days — 59 across January and February in a common year, 62 across July and August — so sixty days is usually a day or two short of the two-month mark and occasionally a day past it. A "60 days" clause and a "two months" clause therefore rarely land on the same date.

Weekends, holidays and working days

Nothing is skipped here: weekends and public holidays sit inside the count, which is what a plain day count means in almost every contract, notice and policy.

The result box still shows how the span divides — how many of the days are Mondays to Fridays and how many are weekend days — because that is usually the real question behind “will this be dealt with in time”. Public holidays are not deducted from that weekday figure.

How this date is worked out

Your browser reads today’s date from your device and adds 60 days, which gives the date above. The same date engine drives the date calculator, so the two pages cannot disagree with each other.

Every calendar day counts, weekends and public holidays included. Today is treated as day zero, so the result is the 60th day after today rather than counting today itself as the first day. If your contract counts the starting day as day one, shift the result by a day.

Because the answer depends on today, it is not written into the page. It is recalculated every time the page opens, in your own time zone, and never leaves the device.

Common questions

What is the 60-day rollover rule? A retirement plan distribution paid to you must be redeposited into an eligible plan or IRA within 60 days, or it counts as a taxable distribution.

Is 60 days two months? Almost never exactly. Two calendar months usually run 61 or 62 days, so a 60-day count lands a day or two earlier.

Does the 60-day COBRA election period include weekends? Yes. It is 60 calendar days from the later of losing coverage or receiving the election notice.
